ELYSBURG — He began participating in trapshooting 50 years ago because he wanted to improve his hunting skills.

Now, a half-century later, Tom Burkey sits at his monitor in the classification office on Monday, the first day of the annual Pennsylvania State Shotgunning Association (PSSA) state shoot with satisfaction and pride.
