SUNBURY — The permit fee lawsuit between Northumberland County and Coal Township continues to move through the legal system after past negotiations to resolve the issue failed.

County Commissioner Sam Schiccatano and former Commissioner Rick Shoch filed the suit on Jan. 15, 2018. They claimed the $382,525 assessed by the township for the construction of the county jail was in excess of the amount commensurate with the actual expense of administering the building permit process.

WHY. Is the County Suing it’s citizens? The commissioners and solicitor Garrigan are out of control. They denied Sunbury Hospital it’s property tax exemption and the prompt response was the closing of the hospital! The news-item reports the legal fees of the Township, but not the County’s legal fees. Why? That’s poor reporting and looks biased against the Township.
