Coal Twp. Recycling Center workers sanitize facility

Employees at the Coal Township Recycling Center along Venn Access Road are busy sanitizing the facility, equipment and storage bins in light of the global coronavirus pandemic that has forced the closure of the center and numerous businesses in the local area. Shown working at the center are, from left, William Carpenter, Rich Kashnoski, Michael “Mo” Kovach and William Rickert. Coal Township Commissioner President Craig Fetterman said the virus lasts three days on plastic, one to two days on cardboard, two to eight hours on aluminum, five days on glass and five days on paper. He said many beverage containers have small amounts of residual liquid. Fetterman thanked Matt Lauro, Ben Straub and Kevin Fehnel from Forest Hill Fire Co. for providing a water washdown of the recycling center.
