Sentencings

SUNBURY — Eight defendants charged by local police were sentenced Monday in Northumberland County Court of Common Pleas. They are:

• James Latshaw, 53, of Shamokin, was sentenced by President Judge Charles H. Saylor to nine to 24 months in state prison and ordered to pay a $25 fine plus costs for flight to avoid apprehension. His sentence runs concurrent to another sentence he is currently serving.

Latshaw was charged by Shamokin police relating to a Sept. 21 incident.

• Cindy Kodack, 61, of Ranshaw, was sentenced by Judge Paige Rosini to six months of intermediate punishment with the first 30 days on house arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Kodack also had her driver’s license suspended for 12 months.

She was charged by Ralpho Township police involving an Aug. 10 incident.

• Sean Hunsinger, 32, of Trevorton, was sentenced by Rosini to 40 to 80 months in state prison for theft of a firearm and ordered to pay a fine and costs.

Hunsinger was charged by state police at Stonington in connection with a Nov. 21 incident.

• Precious Griffin, 35, of Shamokin, was sentenced by Rosini to 77 days (time served) to 23 months in county prison and one year consecutive probation on charges of risking a catastrophe and recklessly endangering another person. She was granted immediate parole and ordered to pay a fine and costs.

Griffin was charged by Shamokin police relating to an Aug. 12 incident.

She also was sentenced by Rosini to six months of probation and ordered to pay a fine and costs for driving under the influence of alcohol filed by state police at Stonington in connection with an incident on Sept. 3, 2016.

• Joseph McGowen, 20, of Shamokin, was sentenced by Judge Hugh A. Jones to 97 days (time served) to 23 months in county prison for possession with intent to deliver heroin. He also was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs.

McGowen was charged by Shamokin police relating to a Feb. 14 incident.

• Jonathan Grove, 31, of Coal Township, was sentenced by Jones to six months’ probation and ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Grove was charged by state police at Stonington involving an incident on July 2, 2017.

• Damian Sirois, 21, of Coal Township, was sentenced by Jones to two years probation for simple assault.

Sirois was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs and make $5,328.80 restitution to the Victims Compensation Assistance Program.

He was charged by state police at Stonington in connection with an Oct. 7 incident.

• Shawn Baskin, 36, of Paxinos, was sentenced by Jones to 12 months probation for theft. He was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs and make restitution totaling $1,619 to Jeffrey Swanberry.

Baskin was charged by state police at Stonington relating to an incident on Oct. 4, 2015.

Baskn also was sentenced by Jones to 12 months’ consecutive probation for theft filed by state police at Stonington in connection with an incident on Oct. 13, 2015.

The defendant was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs and make restitution of $1,705 to the estate of his grandfather, Luther Baskin; $4,550 to Goodville Mutual Casualty Co.; and $725 to Curt’s Gun Shop Inc.
