COAL TOWNSHIP — Shamokin Area Superintendent Chris Venna reported cyber charter costs are crippling the district’s budgets, forcing the school board to raise taxes and cut programs.

During a 15-minute presentation to the school board Wednesday night, Venna said the cyber charter schools have cost the district $16,270,673.34 in the past 12 years.
