Blight tour

A group of local, county and state officials discuss the issue of community blight Monday morning near the former Shroyer factory building at the corner of Rock and Packer Streets in Shamokin. 

SHAMOKIN — A group of state, county and local officials visited a number of properties Monday morning in the Shamokin area to discuss the issue of blight and how a negative can be turned into a positive.

The tour included stops at three properties, beginning with the former Shroyer factory building at the corner of Rock and Packer streets shortly around 10:30 a.m.

The group consisted of DCED Deputy Secretary Rick Vitello Jr. and his administrative assistant Evelyn Chianelli, DCED Director of Community Development Operations Kathy Possinger, DCED Regional Director Fadia Halma, Northumberland County Commissioners Sam Sciccatano and Kymberley Best.
