Driver charged with summary offense following wreck that knocked out power

COAL TOWNSHIP — Gavin Wehr, 18, of Shamokin, has been charged as a result of a motor vehicle crash that knocked out power to more than 500 PPL customers at 9:40 p.m. Oct. 5 along Route 61 near Ranshaw.

According to Coal Township police, Wehr was operating a 2012 Hyundai Sonata, which belonged to Katlyn Ehman, of Shamokin. The vehicle was traveling south toward Ranshaw when, according to Wehr, the vehicle’s steering did not respond.
