Harvest, a medical marijuana dispensary, on the corner of Independence and Shamokin streets in Shamokin, will no longer be opening as of Friday. The business relinquished its state Department of Health permit.

SHAMOKIN — In an unexpected turn of events, Harvest Health & Recreation Inc., announced Friday that two of its affiliates, will relinquish permits granted to them by the the state Department of Health (DOH). The two Harvest affiliates, Harvest of North Central PA LLC and Harvest of Northwest PA LLC, whose facilities were to be based in Shamokin and New Castle respectively, will not be opening those facilities.

The announcement came following a settlement agreement that was reached early Friday morning between DOH’s Office of Medical Marijuana and all Harvest affiliates statewide.
