HERNDON — K9 Flynn has been around the world — literally. On Saturday, the 7-year-old Belgian Malinois got a second chance to curl up at the feet of the man who spent several years as his partner on the Schenectady, New York, police force.

Nineteen months ago, Officer Kevin Derkowski handed Flynn’s leash over to Anne Gibbs, founder of K9 Hero Haven, in hopes she could rehabilitate the newly retired working dog and help him find a good home.
