SHAMOKIN — It wasn’t just the hog that was roasting on Sunday at the inaugural Crown the Pig event at Claude Kehler Community Park. The temperature felt like 105 degrees, causing some discomfort for anyone outdoors.

Event coordinator Jacqueline Valania could be seen scampering around throughout the day, performing several tasks in an effort to keep things running smoothly. Her additional duties came about after some of the volunteer staff had to pull out due to the excessively hot weather.
