Southern Columbia Area High School students in Claire Campbell’s gym class on Monday had the opportunity to play “knockerball” where they each donned a giant, inflatable ball and spent the period running into one another and bouncing around the school’s gym. They normally play a game of soccer while wearing the inflatables, but each class devolved into a free-for-all. The activity was brought to the school by Staff Sgt. Steve Meisner and Sgt. Leslie Morris, of the U.S. Army National Guard in Danville. The National Guard brings several activities to Southern Columbia Area all school year, including a rock climbing wall and, later this spring, a rope course. Here 11th-grader Michele Kerstetter goes head over heels after getting hit. See Page B9 for more photos.
