SUNBURY — A 36-year-old Middleburg man was sentenced Monday morning to 4 1/2 to 9 years in state prison for involuntary manslaughter relating to the death of a 42-year-old Liverpool man.

Northumberland County Judge Hugh A. Jones imposed the sentence on Jay Boyer Jr., who was charged by Sunbury Cpl. Travis Bremigen with punching Bryan Cox in the face during the early morning hours of April 28 in the Eagles bar parking lot in the first block of South Third Street. Cox was knocked to the ground and struck his head on the pavement, causing him to suffer a fractured skull.
