PHILADELPHIA — Army National Guard captain and Shamokin Area graduate Lee A. Hardin has received the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award.

Selection was based on the individual’s exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, teamwork ethic, personal achievements and record of serving and supporting the community.

Hardin is currently serving as an assistant professor of military science with Temple University Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, Philadelphia. He has served in the military for 17 years.

Hardin is a son of Mark and Mary Ann Hardin, of Coal Township; a brother of Joseph Hardin, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; husband of Lauren K. Hardin, of Harleysville, and father of Evan and Owen Hardin, of Harleysville.

He is a 2001 graduate of Shamokin Area Middle/High School, and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2008 from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg.
