MOUNT CARMEL — Graduating seniors of Mount Carmel Area High School who are residents of the Mount Carmel Area School District are encouraged to contact the school administration regarding the newly-created Brock Bridy Memorial Award.

The award of $500 is presented in memory of Brock Bridy, a former Mount Carmel resident who enthusiastically always offered his friendship, help, service and commitment to numerous community and church events and various fraternal organizations that needed assistance.

The award will be given to an individual who is involved in community or charity service. The application process is a letter or essay detailing the students accomplishments working with community projects or involvement with church activities, youth activities, assisting others in need or other acts the student feels his/her involvement would make them a candidate for the award.

The award is open to students continuing their education after graduation, entering the workforce or enlisting in the military.

The application deadline is Monday.

The award is established from contributions received from area residents in Brock’s memory and is sponsored and organized by the parishioners of St. Michael Orthodox Church and members of the Knights of Columbus in Mount Carmel. Representatives from these organizations will review all applications and select the winner who will be announced during commencement exercises.
