SHAMOKIN — The Cecilian Club will hold a concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Sunbury and Ninth streets, Shamokin. The theme of this month’s concert is “Salute to America.”
The concert will start with an organ solo by Philip Maue playing “Variations on The Star-Spangled Banner,” by Buck; David Kopitsky will then sing “Johnny Bull” from “I Love America,” by Peterson; Mary Anne Miller, accompanied by Nan Weller, will present a clarinet solo, “American Patrol,” arranged by deWalt.
Next will be the vocal quartet of Miranda Moyer, Amber Madden, Peggy Wehry and Marily Stasney singing “The Freedom Train,” by Berlin, with Miller accompanying on piano; Kevin Styer will play a euphonium solo, “God Bless the USA” by Greenwood, with Sharon Styer providing accompaniment; a vocal solo will follow as Rob Ensinger, accompanied by Bonny Klinger, sings “You’re a Grand Old Flag/I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy,” by Cohan.
Weller, on handbells, accompanied by Klinger on piano, will play “America the Beautiful,” arranged by Anderson; Sharon Styer will sing “The House That I Live In,” from “That’s America to Me.” by Robinson, with Klinger providing accompaniment; Klinger will then play a piano solo, “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” arranged by Clydesdale.
A vocal ensemble comprised of Sharron Anderson, Carol Ellis, Madden, Moyer, Grace Stank, Mary Hollingshead, Wehry, Mary Wydra, Tiffany Kaseman, Miller and Weller, accompanied by Klinger, will sing “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” by Raye and Prince, arranged by Lojeski. The concert will conclude with the audience invited to join club members in singing “God Bless America,” as Maue accompanies.
The public is invited to join the club for this month’s concert, which is free of charge.
