Police: Driver hurt in motorcycle crash

A 57-year-old Sunbury man suffered multiple injuries Monday afternoon when a motorcycle he was operating went out of control on a rural road in Rockefeller Township and crashed into a wooded area off the highway, police said. State police identified the man as Paul A. Melachrinos, who was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment of injuries. Trooper Al Wolfe, investigating officer, said the biker was traveling on Culp Road, about a mile from Cypress Road, and lost control while rounding a sharp curve to the left. The Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle became airborne and crashed nose-down into a grassy area, ejecting the operator. Melachrinos was transported to the hospital in Sunbury’s Americus Ambulance. The crash investigation continues.
