GOWEN CITY — A Coal Township man escaped injury when he struck a utility pole on Point Breeze Road near here Sunday, according to state police.
The crash happened just after 7 p.m. on Point Breeze Road near Route 125 in Coal Township.
Trooper Aaron Adams of the Stonington barracks said in a release that Matthew Marcheski, 31, of Coal Township, was headed eastbound on Point Breeze Road in a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado when a deer entered the roadway.
Marcheski swerved to miss the deer and lost control of the pickup truck in foggy and wet conditions.
He traveled off the roadway, striking a utility pole and a tree.
Troopers said Marcheski fled the scene in an unknown direction, leaving the disabled pickup truck behind.
The truck was towed from the scene by Tom Herb’s Garage.
Troopers said Marcheski was not wearing his seatbelt. He was found at his residence and reported no injuries.
Marcheski was cited for not wearing a seatbelt, duty to give information and render aid, and accidents involving unattended vehicles or property.
