SUNBURY — A contractor will continue work next week on Route 61 between Route 890 in Upper Augusta Township and Seventh Street in the city, PennDOT reports.
This project includes ADA curb ramp upgrades, base repairs, milling and paving. Work on the curb ramps, which began last week, will continue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Base repairs, milling and paving will be performed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. tonight through Friday morning. Traffic will be controlled with flaggers.
WINFIELD — Work is progressing on the northern section of the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation (CSVT) project as follows:
The contractor, Trumbull Corp., will set beams in span 3 this week. Beams are set in spans 4 through 8. Piers 9 through 14 are under construction on the east side of the river.
The contractor, New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc., will continue construction of the bridges over existing Route 15. Some work will be performed in the evening with intermittent traffic stoppages.
Single lane conditions northbound and southbound are expected to remain for most of the construction season. Watch for trucks entering and exiting the construction area.
The contractor will be paving, installing guide rail and other miscellaneous work on existing Route 15 northbound.
Trumbull will continue working on the Route 147 southbound bridge over Chillisquaque Creek and the bridge over Ridge Road.
I-80 paving, patching
MIFFLINVILLE — Beginning at 9 p.m. today, there will be alternating lane closures on I-80 east from Mifflinville to the Luzerne County line for paving operations. The closures will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. through the Friday morning.
NORTHUMBERLAND — Road construction continues throughout the borough. PennDOT reports that the upcoming work includes the following:
Drainage and excavation work near the railroad underpass will continue. Route 11 northbound traffic is detoured across the Veterans Memorial Bridge to Front Street in Sunbury, across the island bridges and back to Route 11 north in Northumberland.
Drainage work and curb ramp construction will continue on Duke Street between Park Avenue and Third Street.
Northbound Route 147 traffic will be detoured from Route 11 north (Water Street) to Orange Street. The intersection of Orange Street and Front Street will be controlled with temporary traffic signals. Northbound Route 147 traffic will continue on Orange Street to Fourth Street and then to Duke Street (Route 147 north).
Southbound Route 147 traffic will be detoured onto Third Street to King Street. The intersection of King Street and Front Street will be controlled with temporary traffic signals. King Street turns into Route 147 south at the intersection with Water Street (Route 11 North.)
A detour remains in place for all trucks over 36 feet long.
Drainage work, curb and ADA curb ramp construction will continue on Front Street from north of Old Danville Highway to Hanover Street. Parking is restricted on both sides of Front Street in the work zone.
There are temporary traffic signals at the intersections of Front Street and Orange and Front and King streets.
