Roof of fire-damaged apartment building in Mount Carmel collapses

Firefighters look at damage to a vacant apartment building at 50 N. Maple St. after a partial collapse Sunday afternoon. Falling debris caused an electrical service line to fall onto Maple Street.

MOUNT CARMEL — The roof of a fire-damaged apartment building collapsed at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, causing an electrical service line to fall across North Maple Street.

Erika Roberts, of 106 N. Maple St., was sitting on her porch when she noticed pieces of wood falling from the northeast corner of 50 N. Maple St., which was damaged in a fire last year.
