COAL TOWNSHIP — The size of the water impoundment known locally as “The Caves” shrunk in size with every passing minute Wednesday.

Off-road trucks with payload capacities of almost 50 cubic yards backed to the edge of the water-filled stripping pit to dump rocks and dirt that had been transported from a slag pile about 1/4-mile away.
