Richard H. Price II was born Feb. 3, 1870, in Donaldson, the son of Welsh immigrants. His family moved to Shamokin in 1873.

Richard worked in the mining industry for 57 years and at various local mines and collieries. He started work as a breaker boy, then a laborer, miner and eventually a “mule boss,” overseeing the care of the mules used in mine work.

Richard and his wife raised eight children. At age 69, he died in Shamokin on Aug. 12, 1939.
