The Shamokin Area Middle and Senior High choral ensembles will present their annual spring concert on Wednesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The public is invited to attend the free performance. The program will feature a variety of traditional and popular choral literature.
The concert will open with the middle school chorus performing “Jambo, Karibu Kwa Afrika,” the spiritual “Elijah Rock” and “The Time of My Life” from the movie “Dirty Dancing.” Middle school soloists include Hannah Bashore, Samantha Geiswite, Alaina Glowatski, Sandy Lin, Evelyn Murphy, Molly Rossnock, Samantha Stancavage and Sydney Startzel
The concert will continue with the senior high chorale singing a variety of choral literature including “Jubilant Gloria,” “Ave Verum Corpus” from Mozart’s Requiem, and “Football!” for spoken chorus. The Chamber Choir will perform Billy Joel’s “And So It Goes” and the theme from “Peter Gunn.”
The senior high chorus will perform multiple selections, including “O Sifuni Mungu” as recorded by First Call; an a cappella arrangement of the spiritual “Steal Away,” and Peter Wilhousky’s classic arrangement of “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” The girls will perform a medley from the hit movie “Sister Act,” and the boys will sing “Sherry,” as recorded by The Four Seasons. Senior high soloists include Faith Carpenter, Raven DePeal, Sloan Derk, Arcadio Duganitz, Anthony Folmar, Kenny Gilcrest, Hanna Halderman, Zoey Hockenbroch, Alexa Jacobs, Caycee Kalinoski, Rosalind Kane, Ferdinand Madara, Micah Miller, Tori Moser, Cory Mrowka, Kyra Sanders, Joan Schaeffer, Destiny Smith, Molly Stevens, Jeremiah Thompson and Megan Wywadis.
The concert will be accompanied by pianist Mrs. Susan Miller and percussionist Holly Fegley.
The choral ensembles are under the direction of Mary Anne Stump.
