People gather at the scene of an accident Friday evening at the intersection of Montgomery and Diamond streets in Shamokin.

SHAMOKIN — A 10-year-old Shamokin boy was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with non-life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a pickup truck Friday evening while riding a scooter at the intersection of Montgomery and Diamond streets.

Police said the driver of the Chevy pickup, Matthew Milbrand, 29, of Shamokin, was not suspected of being at fault in the crash. Milbrand was visibly shaken at the scene of the accident, which occurred at about 6:15 p.m.
