ELYSBURG — A Shamokin man was charged with flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest and possessing drug paraphernalia following a foot pursuit late Sunday night that started in the Sheetz parking lot in the 200 block of South Market Street and ended a block away outside the Dollar General.

Ralpho Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski filed the charges against Timothy W. Alston Jr., 32, of 18 S. Market St., Apt. 1. Alston was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge William Cole and committed to Northumberland County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
