COAL TOWNSHIP — A new executive principal has been appointed for Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School. This announcement was made by the Secretary for Education of the Diocese of Harrisburg, the Rev. Edward J. Quinlan.
Sister Mary Anne Bednar, IHM has been appointed as the executive principal of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School in Coal Township. She is completing her service as principal of Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg. She holds a Master of Arts in mathematics from Villanova University and the Pennsylvania Administrative Certification from St. Joseph University.
Previously, Bednar has served in educational assignments in the Diocese of Allentown and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
“I am so happy to be going home and returning to my alma mater. I am looking forward to reconnecting with the local community,” Bednar said in a press release.
The appointment of a secondary principal is made by the Secretary for Education, upon the recommendation of the board of directors for the local school.
Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School is a Catholic school serving the Shamokin and Mount Carmel area parishes and community with grades ranging from pre-kindergarten through 12. Presently, there are 510 students enrolled.
