One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday on Route 890 at its intersection of Plum Creek Road in Rockefeller Township, authorities said.

Police did not immediately release names of those involved or the condition report for the lone person who was hurt and taken to Sunbury Community Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

State police Trooper Jason Drumheller said both vehicles were traveling east on Route 890, toward Augustaville, when the Subaru Forester stopped to make a turn onto Plum Creek Road. A red Ford Escape traveling behind the Subaru was unable to stop and crashed into the back of the SUV, police said.

Upper Augusta, Stonington and Shamokin Dam fire and emergency squads responded, along with Americus and AREA Services ambulances.

The highway was shut down until both vehicles were towed.
