SHAMOKIN — A man trapped under a front-end loader has been freed and is OK.

He was shaking hands with rescuers shortly after he put himself onto a stretcher at about 7:50 p.m.

The rescue operation off Dewart Street near the city-township line began after the first call for emergency responders was made at 7:17 p.m. 

Rescue units from Shamokin, Coal Township and Kulpmont responded. Life Flight helicopter had been en route.
