MOUNT CARMEL — Ceremony and taps, 9 a.m., American Legion Post 91, Avenue and Maple Street. Wreaths will be placed at the flag pole plaques that list the names of servicemen from Mount Carmel who died during the wars of the 20th century. A volley of shots will be fired and taps sounded by the Mount Carmel Area High School Band. Participants should meet at the Legion at 8:45 a.m.

MOUNT CARMEL — Veterans Day program, 9:30 a.m., Mount Carmel Area High School auditorium. Students will present patriotic readings, poems and songs and the school band will perform patriotic music. Veterans from VFW Post 2110 will announce winners of the Voice of Democracy and Patriotic Pen contests. Attendees should assemble at 9:15 a.m.; identification is required for entry to the school. Afterward, the group will proceed to the World War I memorial at the UNB Bank, Third and Oak streets, for a service. A volley of shots will be fired and the high school band will perform music and taps.
