COAL TOWNSHIP — A 53-year-old Philadelphia woman visiting an inmate at SCI-Coal Township on Sunday afternoon was charged with allegedly smuggling 48 strips of Suboxone into the prison.

Justina Marie Delgoleto was arraigned at 10:30 a.m. Monday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on felonies of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and contraband filed by Trooper Kevin Kearney, of state police at Stonington.

Delgoleto was committed to Northumberland County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.

Kearney said Delgoleto concealed 48 strips of Suboxone in her waistband while visiting inmate Omar Johnson at about 1:45 p.m.

The trooper said Johnson then removed the strips from Delgoleto’s waistband and attempted to swallow them before prison staff administered pepper spray on Johnson, forcing him to spit out the drugs onto the floor.
