Police units are seen along Maple Street in Mount Carmel during a standoff encounter Saturday morning

MOUNT CARMEL — A man that is apparently barricaded inside a residence on South Maple Street in the borough is accused of shooting a man early Saturday morning in the 400 block of East Sunbury Street, Shamokin.

According to an affidavit filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, Akeem Tyree Gregory is believed to have shot Joel Santiago multiple times during an incident that was reported to police at 12:18 a.m. Saturday.
