SHAMOKIN — Weis Markets in Shamokin is among five franchise stores in the region that now offers same-day delivery service through Shipt, an online marketplace.
Shamokin store manager Jim Malick said the service began locally on Thursday. Weis Markets in the Anthra Plaza in Coal Township doesn’t currently offer the service.
Weis Markets in Sunbury, Selinsgrove, Danville and Lewisburg also are offering the subscription-based service to customers within 20 miles of the stores.
Customers can order through the Weis Markets website or the Shipt mobile app. For an annual membership fee of $99, customers can get free, unlimited delivery on orders of more than $35. Orders under $35 are subject to a $7 delivery fee.
Shipt will deliver as soon as one hour to shoppers who place their orders online. The delivery program app allows member shoppers to point out their preferences, choose a one-hour delivery and pay for their order. Shipt’s shoppers select, bag and deliver the items.
