POTTSVILLE — D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. will commemorate its 190th anniversary with a summer concert celebration in the city.

Fans of all ages are invited Saturday to join officials from America’s oldest brewery for a free concert headlined by Better Than Ezra. The band is best known for the hit song “Good,” released in 1995.

The American alternative rock band from New Orleans will perform at 8 p.m. with fireworks immediately following at 9:30 p.m.

Entertainment will kick off 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Stage C with a performance by The Boys Upstairs, an acoustic group from Pottsville. Toolshed Jack will entertain with up-tempo pop, rock and funk music on Stage B from 4 to 6 p.m. The rock band Hooligan will open for Better Than Ezra at 6:30 p.m.

From 1 to 6 p.m., Mahantongo and Second streets will be lined with “dozens” of artisan vendors. Food trucks and more vendors will line Progress Avenue from 1 to 10 p.m.

A “downtown beer garden” on Progress Avenue, near the main stage, will offer Golden Pilsener and other Yuengling brews from 1 to 9:30 p.m.

Brewery tours will not be available Saturday, but the gift shop and taproom will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Yuengling officials noted that outside alcohol will not be permitted within the event venues and all other city ordinances as well as laws of the commonwealth will be enforced outside the venues.

Parking will be available at multiple locations in and around the city.

Officials expect Routes 61 and 209 to be congested during the event, but noted the state highways will remain open to through traffic.
