MOUNT CARMEL — Two defendants entered guilty pleas Wednesday and were ordered by Magisterial District Judge William Cole to pay fines and costs.
• John J. Rochford, 73, of 50 N. Maple St., Apt. 202, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernlia and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on probation for one year.
He was charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma for a metal smoking pipe that was found in his home during a probation checkup on Oct. 25.
• Samantha Vantaggi, 20, of 654 Spruce St., Kulpmont, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and was placed on one year probation. A charge of possession of a counterfeit substance was withdrawn.
Vantaggi was charged by Chief Nathan Foust after a pipe with marijuana was found in a residence she was staying.
John Gembic III
SHAMOKIN — Kevin Kish, 56, of 1510 W. Arch St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to theft by deception and was ordered by Magisterial Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs and restitution to Dollar General in the amount of $8.50 and was placed on probation for six months. Charges of retail theft takes possession and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.
Kish was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver for placing Fixodent in his coat pocket and walking out of Dollar General, and then returned to the store to return it for a gift card in the amount of $8.50.
