Retail theft

SHAMOKIN — Patrolman Joshua Pastucka has charged Kelly L. Whitmer, 33, of 211 S. Vine St., Shamokin, with a felony of retail theft for allegedly stealing $65.08 in merchandise from Weis Markets shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Whitmer has three prior convictions for retail theft.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN — Patrick Lou Amarose III, 20, of 406 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Brandon Cohick with possession of synthetic marijuana (Spice), possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 12:46 p.m. Monday at Amarose’s home.

While assisting state parole agents Adam Kusnerick and Bob Belfanti, Cohick said synthetic marijuana wrapped in a plastic bag and tin foil were found on Amarose’s possession.

Upon being taken into custody, police said Amarose shouted obscenities multiple times in the presence of neighbors and bystanders.
