Underage drinking

COAL TOWNSHIP — Coal Township police filed underage drinking charges against Keagan Lindauer, 19, of Mount Carmel, Kelsea Slovinsky, 19, of Marion Heights, and Brandilee Homes, 20, of Mount Carmel, after they were found allegedly intoxicated at the Club House Bar, 1027 E. Race St. Police said they received an anonymous call stating the under-aged girls were consuming alcohol at the bar.

Marijuana possession

PAXINOS — Michael Thomas Karpinski Jr., 27, of 128 E. Arch St., Shamokin, was charged by Trooper Christopher Kolosinsky with possession of a small amount of marijuana which was located during an arrest on a warrant in Paxinos.

Criminal mischief

ZERBE TOWNSHIP — Hunter Michael Harris, 20, of 335 Susquehanna St., Trevorton, was charged by Trooper Christopher Kolosinsky with criminal mischief related to a July 29 incident.

Harris allegedly caused $1,412.77 worth of damage to a victim’s vehicle while doing donuts in his Jeep Cherokee in the area of West Railroad Street and Route 225. The victim said Harris kicked up rocks and other debris with his Jeep, which damaged the windshield and paint of the Ford F-150.

Marijuana possession

COAL TOWNSHIP — Michael Dale Phillips, 41, of 1453 Scott St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. with possession of a small amount of marijuana related to an Aug. 11 incident at a sobriety checkpoint.

Purcell said Phillips was stopped at the checkpoint and the smell of marijuana was coming from his vehicle. He conducted a search of Phillips and found a marijuana cigarette.

Drug paraphernalia, DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP — Jeremy Gundy, 22, of 321 Main St., Ranshaw, was charged by Patrolman Cody Rebuck with possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of driving under the influence.

Gundy apparently admitted to smoking marijuana while stopped at a sobriety checkpoint on Route 61 on Aug. 12. Rebuck reported Gundy was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety test and submitted to a blood draw.


SHAMOKIN — Matthew Lukens, 22, of 1525 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, was charged with Cpl. Bryan Primerano with possession of a counterfeit substance and drug paraphernalia. Lukens was found sleeping on the stairs at Liberty and Sunbury streets on Sunday allegedly under the influence. Located in his pants pocket was a plastic bag containing spice.

DUI, endangering the welfare of a child

SHAMOKIN — Jessica Strong, 41, of 32 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with three misdemeanors related to driving under the influence and a misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child .

Strong allegedly backed a Honda into a Kia which was getting gas at Turkey Hill on Lincoln and Market streets. She told Primerano she consumed one beer and prescription medication. A preliminary breath test registered a .20 blood alcohol content. She had three children under the age of 18 in her vehicle at the time.

Two-vehicle accident

KULPMONT — Chief Nathan Foust and Patrolman Jonathan McHugh of the Kulpmont Borough Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at approximately 5 p.m. Monday afternoon along Chestnut Street/State Route 61 in Kulpmont.

According to police, the accident occurred when a white Kia SUV traveling eastbound struck a red Ford Focus, pushing the Focus into the porch of a residence in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street.

There were no reported injuries to the unidentified operator of the Kia or her juvenile passenger, while the operator of the Focus, Roseann Shannon, of Mount Carmel, and her mother were both transported by ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

In addition to Kulpmont Borough Police, Kulpmont Fire Department and Fire Police also reported to the scene. The vehicles were towed by MJ Smith Auto Repair, of Kulpmont.
