Pool filter stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP — Tracy Vetovich, 36, of 801 W. Mulberry St., reported someone entered her yard and stole a Hayward pool filter and sand tank for her pool, valued at $350, between 10 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call Coal Township police at 570-644-0333.

Two-vehicle accident

COAL TOWNSHIP — No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Route 61 at the former Ames Plaza intersection across from East End Auto.

Police reported Frank Bushinski, of Coal Township, had his 2018 Chevrolet stopped in the travel lane of Route 61 for a red light at 12:37 p.m. when his vehicle was rear-ended by a 2005 Ford Focus operated by Haley Meixsell, of Shamokin, who was changing lanes and failed to notice that the traffic light was red.

Bushinski’s vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Meixsell’s car sustained extensive damage and was towed by East End Auto.

Police said Meixsell will be cited for driving without a license and careless driving.


SHAMOKIN — Koryne Dilliplane, 39, of 137 E. Independence St., was charged by Patrolman Tyler Bischof with burglary, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Police reported Dilliplane, who was wanted on bench warrants issued by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office, was one of two people found inside a vacant house at 15 N. Diamond St. shortly before 4:30 p.m. July 3.

Police said Dilliplane possessed a syringe.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN — Patrolman Joshua Pastucka charged Holly L. Bentley, 38, of 1005 E. Dewart St., with retail theft for allegedly stealing $27.50 in merchandise from the Dollar General on July 3.

Drug offenses

SHAMOKIN — Esmeralda Vasquez, 29, of 601 Bear Valley Ave., was charged by Patrolman William Zalinski with possessing a small amount of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia (a glass smoking pipe, grinder and a clear plastic container with marijuana) on June 26 at a residence.

SHAMOKIN — Patrolman Brandon Cohick charged Jerimiah D. Jones, 32, of 804 E. Chestnut St., with possessing a small amount of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia relating to an incident at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of North Rock Street.
