Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Gabrielle Poplaski, 23, of 629 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Jeremy Talanca with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an April 26 incident in the 300 block of South Locust Street.

Police reported a black box belonging to Poplaski was found in her vehicle that contained a grinder with a small amount of marijuana, a multi-colored glass pipe with burnt marijuana inside and a pill bottle containing a small amount of marijuana.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman Jeremy Talanca charged Thomas W. Weikel Jr., 29, of Mount Carmel, with possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.

The charges relate to a March 20 traffic stop on East Fourth Street near South Apple Street.

Weikel was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Tristian E. Reed, 26, of 137 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, who was charged by Talanca with driving under the influence, possessing drug paraphernalia and a stop sign violation.

Police said Reed refused to submit to chemical testing.

Felony offenses

MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman Kyle Schauer has charged Frederick T. Holmes Jr., 50, of 444 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, with felonies of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy, misdemeanors of possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia, and summaries of driving with a suspended registration and driving under suspension.

During a May 10 vehicle stop in the 200 block of West Fifth Street, police said they found a plastic zip bag containing methamphetamine, a small glass vile containing methamphetamine, numerous plastic zip bags, two digital pocket scales and $77 in cash belonging to Holmes and Stacey L. Darginski, 33, of 310 Main St., Ranshaw.

Darginski, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was charged by Schauer with felonies of criminal conspiracy and possessing with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and misdemeanors of possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Charges of theft, receiving stolen property, harassment and two counts of criminal trespass were filed by Patrolman Kyle Schauer against Charla Rosanne Bensinger, 30, of New Ringgold.

Police said Bensinger is accused of breaking into the residence of Paul Barilla and Pamela Davis at 319 N. Oak St. on March 24, striking Barilla in the face twice, stealing approximately $20 and a crystal figurine from a counter and Davis’ car keys. Bensinger also is accused of attempting to steal Barilla’s wallet.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL — Steven Daniel Ennis, 36, of 222 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Kyle Schauer with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness relating to a fight early Saturday morning at 301 S. Oak St.

Police said Ennis is accused of punching Paul Artman several times, causing him to fall backwards into a plastic garbage dumpster outside the Clover Hose Company. Ennis also allegedly punched Artman in the face and head several times while he was on the ground.

Police reported Ennis also pushed Michael Ledger in the chest inside the fire company bar, causing Ledger to fall on the floor. Ledger suffered a cut on his chin that required seven stitches at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman Jeremy Talanca charged David A. DeMarco, 29, of 429 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance relating to a March 15 incident at his home.

Police reported DeMarco possessed a small baggie containing methamphetamine.

Driving under suspension

MOUNT CARMEL — Cpl. William Adamski charged Jacob J. Wondoloski, 23, of 802 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, with driving under suspension, altered, forged or counterfeit plates, driving without insurance and driving without registration involving a traffic stop in the first block of North Birch Street on April 13.
