ELYSBURG — Ralpho Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski charged Jonathon T. Leon, 34, of Danville, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to drive in a single lane, speeding and restrictions on alcoholic beverages.

Police reported Leon had a blood-alcohol content of .103 percent.

The charges were filed in connection with a traffic stop on Route 54 near the entrance to Weiser State Forest.

DUI, drug offenses

RIVERSIDE — Bethany Lee Francis, 20, of Hamburg, was charged by Patrolman Andrew Rupp with driving under the influence of marijuana, possessing a small amount of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia relating to a DUI checkpoint March 17 on Route 54.

Criminal trespass

ELYSBURG — Charges of driving under suspension and criminal trespass were filed by Cpl. Bryon Chowka against Bradley N. Anecki, 53, of 438 N. Market St., Elysburg.

Police reported Anecki drove a motorcycle onto the parking lot of Gary Farnsworth at 500 N. Market St. on April 4 after being told several times by Farnsworth that he wasn’t allowed on the property.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Paige Schreiber, 19, of 275 Cogan Road, Dalmatia, was charged by Patrolman Tyler Herbster with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Herbster conducted a vehicle stop on March 14 for failure to use a turn signal. He spoke with Schreiber and reported the smell of marijuana coming from her vehicle. There was allegedly a burned marijuana cigarette and wax in the center console of the vehicle.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL —Thomas J. Lynott, 23, of 340 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, and Edward James Grego, 21, of 124 Laurel Lane, Mount Carmel, were each charged by Patrolman Tyler Herbster with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

During a Nov. 20 vehicle stop, Herbster reported the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle in which Grego was driving and Lynott was a passenger. Grego allegedly had a small amount of marijuana on his person that was taken into evidence. Police also allegedly located marijuana in Lynott’s possession.

Drugs and weapons charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Ronald Gene Rockwell III, 33, of 245 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Kyle Schauer with misdemeanors of prohibited offensive weapons, possession of a counterfeit substance and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

Rockwell was placed into custody on a warrant out of Northumberland County. During a search of his person, police allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, glass smoking pipes and metal knuckles.

Simple assault

KULPMONT — Austin Leigh Kerstetter, 21, of 603 Walnut St., Ashland, was charged by Patrolman Brandon Toter with a simple assault misdemeanor and a summary count of harassment.

Kerstetter allegedly assaulted a former roommate, Michelle Chapman, in Chapman’s home when Kerstetter arrived to remove personal belongings.

Erratic driving

ELYSBURG — David Paul McGuinn II, 28, of 206 Tulip Road, Paxinos, was charged by Patrolman David Tomtishen with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving on roadways laned for traffic and prohibiting text-based communications.

McGuinn was allegedly driving erratically on Route 54 and was stopped near Burger King in Elysburg. A vehicle had followed McGuinn and recounted to police of his driving all over the roadway and how closely to their bumper his vehicle followed them.

McGuinn was asked to perform a field sobriety test and showed signs of impairment, according to Tomtishen.

Theft report

COAL TOWNSHIP — Michael Greco, 43, of 40 N. Thomas St., Coal Township, reported that sometime between Thursday, April 4 and Saturday, someone removed two car batteries he had sitting on the porch steps at the rear of his property.

Assault at school

COAL TOWNSHIP — A 13-year-old male student at Shamokin Area Middle/High School was charged by Coal Township police with simple assault and harassment involving a disturbance at 8:19 a.m. Thursday at the school.

Police reported the student walked into the in-school suspension room and punched a 15-year-old male student in the head twice.


MOUNT CARMEL — Patrick Gurdak, 22, of 34 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Tyler Herbster with a misdemeanor of simple assault and one summary count of harassment.

Gurdak allegedly assaulted his mother, Judy Rowe, by hitting her in the face and kicking her in the head on March 18.
