Retail theft

STRONG — Edward Lee Balch, 23, of 240 W. Girard St., Atlas, was charged by Patrolman Patrick McAndrew with retail theft and corruption of minors.

Balch, along with his 17-year-old brother-in-law, allegedly stole a Monster drink and cigarettes from Turkey Hill on Dec. 29.

Drug charges

ATLAS — Elizabeth Ann Slovick, 51, of 139 W. Saylor St., was charged by Patrolman McAndrew with a felony count of possession of a designer drug and misdemeanors of possession of a counterfeit substance and drug paraphernalia and misbranded controlled substances.

While conducting a parole visit, Slovick’s parole officer said she was allegedly under the influence and called police to assist. According to McAndrew, methamphetamine was in a pill container in a bag owned by Slovick.

She was arraigned by Magisterial Judge William Cole in lieu of $20,000 straight bail.

Bad checks

NATALIE — The following were charged by Patrolman Michael Pitcavage with a misdemeanor each of bad checks:

• Jodi Lynn Zangaro, 43, of 1423 Market St., Ashland, on Feb. 19 from an account with insufficient funds to Aaron’s Oil Co. Inc., in the amount of $265.90. Total restitution, including the return fee, is $312.75.

• Sherri Yawornicky, 56, of 14 E. Main St., Girardville, on Sept. 28 from an account with insufficient funds to Aaron’s Oil Co. Inc., in the amount of $218.80. Total restitution, including the return fee, is $265.50.

• Chelsea McKinley, 44, of 213-A Richards Road, Elysburg, on Oct. 23 from an account with insufficient funds to Aaron’s Oil Co. Inc., in the amount of $397.50. Total restitution, including the return fee, is $444.20.

• Eileen Joan Burke, 63, of 531 W. Lloyd St., Shenandoah, on Jan. 22 from an account with insufficient funds to Aaron’s Oil Co. Inc., in the amount of $300. Total restitution, including the return fee, is $346.85.

Retail theft

MOUNT CARMEL — Marcie Anne Howerter was arraigned by Magisterial Judge William Cole on $10,000 unsecured bail on a charge of retail theft filed by Patrolman William Adamski.

Howerter allegedly took $71 in merchandise from Dollar General in Mount Carmel on March 18.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL — Jacob Spence Timothy, 36, of 1255 W. Arch St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Kyle Schauer with a DUI misdemeanor and summary counts of driving while operating privilege is suspended and registration and certificate of title required.

Timothy was pulled over for an expired registration on March 7. Schauer reported he appeared to be under the influence and had the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. A preliminary breath test showed a 0.13 blood alcohol content.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL — Sarah Lynne Selig, 27, of 339 S. Orange St., was charged by Patrolman Kyle Schauer with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Schauer reported he was contacted by probation on March 15 after numerous items of drug paraphernalia were allegedly located in her home by her parole officer.

Harassment charges

ELYSBURG — Terry Albert Keefer, 42, of 667 Sharp Ridge Road, Danville, was charged with a misdemeanor of harassment, communicates at extremely inconvenient hours and summaries of harassment alarm or seriously annoy and disorderly conduct.

Keefer was allegedly intoxicated when he went to the victim’s home, causing a disturbance. Police said he continued harassing through phone calls, text messages and social media.
