Simple assault

COAL TOWNSHIP — Cindy Kodack, 60, of 110 Short St., Ranshaw, was charged by Patrolman Cody Rebuck with simple assault and harassment for allegedly hitting her daughter, Jessica Kodack, 37, in the head with a glass vase at their home at 7:52 p.m. Friday.

Jessica Kodack suffered a laceration on the top of her forehead, causing bleeding, police said.

Cindy Kodack left the house in a black, four-door Suzuki prior to police arriving, and was reported missing by her daughter Sunday when she failed to check in after making it to the beach. Her whereabouts were unknown as of Tuesday morning, police said.

Dog attack

COAL TOWNSHIP — Patrolman Cody Rebuck cited Kathy Hoffman, 53, of 1443 W. Fern St., Coal Township, for failing to keep her dogs confined within her premises.

Police reported Hoffman’s two black dogs — a Weimaraner Lab mix and Blue Healer German Shepherd mix — escaped from her yard at 8:40 p.m. Sunday and attacked another dog in the 1400 block of West Fern Street. The dog suffered a minor puncture wound just below its tail.

Drug possession

COAL TOWNSHIP — Michael J. Leiby, 33, of 505 Woodlawn Ave., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. with drug possession and drug paraphernalia for an incident that occurred on the evening of July 29.

According to police, they received a report about an individual walking along Bear Valley Road and behaving erratically near the area of the bus barn. Upon arrival, Purcell allegedly found the defendant to be in possession of a small bag of Spice and a smoking device. He was also wanted on two warrants by the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office and subsequently taken into custody.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP — Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. has charged Edward Sonnon, 33, of 540 Main St. No. 542, Edwardsville, with retail theft as the result of an incident on March 9 at Walmart Supercenter. According to police and store asset protection associate Stephanie Hawk, Sonnon stole merchandise totaling $1,343.16.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN — Chantel Gunn, 23, and her boyfriend, Brandon Lee Palmer, 20, both of 35 N. Rock St., Shamokin, were charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an Aug. 1 incident at their home.

Police reported Gunn and Palmer possessed five marijuana smoking devices.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN — Frederick Scott, 51, of 56 Raspberry Hill, Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with simple assault, harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a disturbance at his residence Sunday night.

Police reported Scott is accused of punching and biting his girlfriend, Kayleen Reigle, following a verbal argument at 9:46 p.m. Police said Scott also allegedly assaulted Reigle’s sister, Heather Reigle.

Dog running at large

COAL TOWNSHIP — Lisa Weidner, 51, of 1422 W. Holly St., Coal Township, will be cited by Coal Township police for allowing her dog to run at large relating to an incident at 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Police reported Weidner’s dog came off her property after Jeffrey Hartenstine, 52, and his dog while they were walking in the 1400 block of West Holly Street.

Marijuana possession

COAL TOWNSHIP — Jessica Bechtel, 41, of Three Springs, was charged by Cpl. Joshua Wynn with possession of a small amount of marijuana relating to a March 17 incident at her former residence at 1699 W. Wood St.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP — Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. charged Curtis D. Navitsky, 30, of 118 W. Hancock St., Saint Clair, with retail theft for allegedly taking $980.84 worth of merchandise from Walmart without paying on June 6.

OIP tip jar taken

SHAMOKIN — Ashley Marie Knopp, 29, of 229 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with misdemeanors of theft, receiving stolen property and false reports incriminating another related to a July 28 incident.

Police said on July 31, Knopp admitted to stealing a tip jar from OIP containing $40 and driving off in her vehicle. Prior to her confession, she told police someone named Robert had been driving her car and she had no information about the robbery.

Sunbury Cpl. Bradley Hare arranged for Siko to speak to Brandon Kline, of Sunbury, who said he had been with Knopp on July 28 attempting to purchase drugs in the Shamokin area. He was not with her at the time of the robbery, police said.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP — Casey M. Baird, 24, of 805 W. Dewart St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. with retail theft related to a June 26 incident in which Baird allegedly removed $863.10 worth of merchandise from Walmart without paying.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP — Bradley L. Merwine, 39, of 265 Hill Road, Hegins, was charged with retail theft by Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. for allegedly removing $708.08 worth of merchandise without paying from Walmart in the early hours of May 19.
