Drug possession

MOUNT CARMEL — Anthony J. Warsheski, 36, of 431 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Lieutenant David Donkochik with drug possession, relating to an incident which occurred on Aug. 11. On that date, the defendant allegedly appeared outside a residence at 329 E. Third St. looking and acting like a zombie. According to Donkochik, Warsheski was also observed swaying back and forth as if he was about to fall over. A subsequent check revealed that Warsheski was under the influence of narcotics and was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN — Patrolman Bryan Primerano has charged Darnell Wilson, 38, of 120 Academy St., Shamokin, with disorderly conduct. According to police, at 9:51 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, Wilson was observed causing a disturbance at the Turkey Hill Minit markets, 140 W. Lincoln St., Shamokin, while being under the influence of alcohol. After being advised to disperse in an orderly fashion and leave the store premises, Wilson was observed moments later returning back to the scene. She was immediately placed under arrest and attempted to kick out the rear window of the police vehicle.

Burglary

ATLAS — Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell has charged Brandon Taylor Chapman, 23, of 476 W. Girard St., Mount Carmel, with burglary for his involvement in an incident which occurred on the afternoon on Aug. 13. According to police, on the date in question Chapman broke into a property belonging to Scott Yeager and was reported by the property owner for attempting to steal drug paraphernalia items.

Criminal mischief

ATLAS — Keith Frank Howell, 20, of 19 Back St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with criminal mischief for his involvement in a July 3 incident in which the defendant allegedly dumped a garbage can filled with dirt and debris onto the hood of a vehicle belonging to Richard Karlaza, of 21 Back St., Mount Carmel. Karlaza was able to provide police with video footage showing Howell causing damage to his vehicle, the total of which was estimated by Independence Ford of Bloomsburg to be valued at $1,022.35.

Theft

MOUNT CARMEL — Patrolman William Adamski has charged Edward Hancock III, 23, of 5 W. Commerce St., Shamokin, with theft by unlawful taking of movable property. According to police, on July 23, Dorothy Kogut, of 137 W. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, notified police that the defendant had failed to honor a verbal agreement in which she would pay him $100 cash for a washer and he would deliver it to her home. Kogut informed police that she paid Hancock the cash but that he failed to deliver the item in question. Hancock was interviewed by police and subsequently ordered to pay $100 in restitution.

DUI

KULPMONT — Steven C. Gregory, 36, of 168 Chestnut Lane, Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Stephen Mazzeo with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road, failing to drive in a single lane, careless driving and reckless driving.

The charges relate to an incident at 8:17 p.m. Aug. 10 at 10th and Chestnut streets.

Police reported Gregory refused to submit to chemical testing.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL — Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were filed by Patrolman Joseph Hahn against Daniel J. Grohowski, 27, of 614 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel.

Police reported Grohowski is accused of stealing Kylee Wargo’s iPhone X valued at approximately $1,000.

Police said the theft occurred July 21 at 250 S. Poplar St.

Drug charges

ATLAS — Damien M. Slovick, 30, of 139 W. Saylor St., Atlas, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell with felonies of delivering methamphetamine and criminal use of a communication facility relating to a July 8 drug transaction in the 400 block of East Columbia Avenue.

Drug paraphernalia

KULPMONT — Chief of Police Nathan Foust charged Brian Elliott, 27, of 320 N. Vine St., Shamokin, with possession of drug paraphernalia involving a July 20 incident in the 700 block of Fir Street.

Police reported Elliott possessed a fake $100 bill, four used syringes, a black plastic measuring spoon, a contact case with a piece of brown cotton, a small clear plastic container, a razor blade, coins, a debit/credit card and a SIM card.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL — Marvin E. Honabach Jr., 48, of 300 Main St., Wilburton, was charged by Patrolman Kyle Schauer with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to drive in a single lane.

The charges involve a June 3 incident in the 100 block of West Avenue.

Police said Honabach had a blood-alcohol content of .179 percent.

Resisting arrest

MOUNT CARMEL — Ashley N. Campbell, 31, of 112 S. Second St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

The charges were filed in connection with an Aug. 8 disturbance at Fourth and Chestnut streets. Police said four syringes and two glass smoking pipes were found in Campbell’s purse.

Guilty plea

MOUNT CARMEL — Jeremiah Jashinskie, 35, of 240 S. Poplar St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty Aug. 15 to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge William Cole to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on probation for one year.

A charge of possession of a controlled substance was withdrawn.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Tomtishen in connection with a May 30 incident along the Wilburton Highway (Route 2032).

Trail cameras stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP — Two Covert cellular trail cameras valued at $1,000 were removed from a property off Big Mountain Road owned by Heather Makal, of 696 Bloom Road, Danville.

The theft occurred at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 12.
