Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN — Jason J. McCormick, 37, of 830 Lott St., Tharptown, pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $300 fine plus costs. He also was placed on probation for one year.

Additional charges of possession of marijuana and public drunkenness were withdrawn.

McCormick was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Jason Adams in connection with a June 6 incident in the first block of Center Street in Tharptown.

Dennis L. Erdman III, 29, of 1542 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Gembic to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on probation for one year.

A charge of possession of heroin was withdrawn.

Erdman was charged by Coal Township Cpl. Joshua Wynn relating to a May 6 incident at his home.

Criminal trespass

SHAMOKIN — Jessica Hoover, 37, of Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with criminal trespass and public drunkenness involving an incident at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at an apartment building at 25 W. Independence St.

Police reported Hoover entered the apartment building after being told numerous times by the owner to stay away. Police said Hoover was under the influence of a controlled substance to the degree that she annoyed people in the vicinity and was a danger to herself.


COAL TOWNSHIP — Thomas Schnee, 27, of 623 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, was charged by Patrolman Cody Rebuck with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Spice and heroin.

The charges involve a June 28 incident in the 1700 block of Trevorton Road in which Schnee was asleep behind the wheel of a car that was running and in the drive position.

Police said Schnee was found in possession of two tin foil smoking pipes, a syringe, three empty packets commonly used to package heroin and a sandwich bag containing Spice and six packets of heroin.


SHAMOKIN — Patrolman Shane Mowery charged Eric Clark, 28, of 1672 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and scattering rubbish.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Clark was found in possession of a marijuana blunt and was observed throwing a plastic cup from a vehicle onto the 400 block of East Race Street at 10:55 a.m. Friday.

Unsworn falsification

COAL TOWNSHIP — Detective Matthew Hashuga has charged James R. Shivelhood, 37, of Millersville, with unsworn falsification to authorities relating to a Jan. 26 incident at Walmart Supercenter in which he allegedly made a false statement on a firearms transaction record.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN — Patricia Ann Zimmerman, 28, of Shamokin, was charged twice by Patrolman Scott Weaver with retail theft relating to offenses at the Dollar General.

Zimmerman is accused of taking items from the store on June 26 and June 30.

DUI, careless driving

SHAMOKIN — Thomas Gilbert Misheck Jr., 50, of 1001 W. Independence St., Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Zachary Martini of state police at Stonington with driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving in connection with a June 17 accident at North Washington and East Water streets.

Police reported Misheck, who had a blood-alcohol content of .209 percent, drove his vehicle off the road onto railroad tracks, where it became stuck.

The accident occurred at about 1:30 a.m.


MONROE TOWNSHIP — Amanda Destephano, 28, of Mechanicsburg, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft for allegedly stealing makeup, fragrances, jewelry and clothing from Kohl’s Department Store at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Dirt bike stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP — Daniel Gomez, of 1631 E. Webster St., Coal Township, told police someone removed his 2000 YZ 125 Yamaha dirt bike from his backyard between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

The dirt bike is white with chrome wheels and blue spokes. The bike is valued at $1,700.

Multiple charges

COAL TOWNSHIP — Chelsey Hayes, 20, of Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Cody Rebuck with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Police said Hayes forced her way into a residence at 1459 Wabash St. belonging to Marchelle Shurock by breaking the front door and smashing the glass on a storm door at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Once inside, police said Hayes attacked Courtney Pancher, 24, of Shamokin, sprayed her with pepper spray and threw a whiskey bottle that struck Pancher in the head.


COAL TOWNSHIP — Patrolman Jason Adams cited Christopher Elsayed, 43, and David Brightbill, 29, both of Shamokin, for littering relating to an incident at 10 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Elsayed and Brightbill were caught trying to place trash bags of household waste into a business dumpster reserved for Jack Williams Tire and Auto Center along Route 61.
