Drivers identified

RUSH TOWNSHIP — The drivers involved in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday at 4:53 p.m. on Route 54, north of Elysburg, have been identified. Trooper Logan Spiece reported that Amanda Schultz, 37, of Kulpmont, was operating a Chevrolet Traverse east toward Elysburg and slowing for stopped traffic when a Dodge Dakota, operated by Michael Faust, 19, of Paxinos, was following too closely and unable to stop, subsequently rear-ending the Traverse. Schultz was uninjured, but Faust suffered a minor injury, Spiece reported. Faust was cited for following too closely.

Trailer comes loose

SNYDERTOWN — A Winfield man escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident Thursday at 1:26 p.m. on Snydertown Road. State police at Stonington reported that Joey Reich, 61, was operating a Kia Sportage, with a small utility trailer in tow, west on the state highway when the trailer came loose. The trailer veered across the oncoming lane and exited the road, coming to rest near some shrubbery. Reich was cited by Trooper Jordan Judson with non-registration.

Drug paraphernalia

ZERBE TOWNSHIP — Justin Ray Ruiz, 33, of 1650 W. Pine St., Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Zachary Martini with possessing drug paraphernalia in Zerbe Township on March 17.

Police reported a green metal grinder containing suspected marijuana was found in the glove compartment of Ruiz’s vehicle.

Theft charges

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP — Trooper Christopher Kolosinsky of state police at Stonington charged Trisha Lynn Howard, 37, and her husband, Chad Michael Howard, 37, of 680 Mountain Road, Paxinos, with theft and criminal trespass.

Police reported the couple allegedly stole brass casings valued at $4 from the Keystone Fish and Game Association on Fir Road in Shamokin Township on March 13.

Drug charges

ZERBE TOWNSHIP — Edward G. Reed III, 35, of 1040 W. Lynn St., Coal Township, and Matthew S. Lukens, 22, an inmate at Dauphin County Prison, Harrisburg, were charged by Trooper Jeffrey Goodman of state police at Lykens with possessing a small amount of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia relating to a March 20 traffic stop on Route 225 near South Fourth Street in Zerbe Township.

Reed also was charged with driving under suspension and driving without insurance.

Drug charges

KULPMONT — Chelsey Louise Garancheski, 21, of 509 S. Seventh St., Shamokin, was charged by Chief Nathan Foust with misdemeanors of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and a summary count of maximum speed limits of 35 mph.

Foust reported pulling Garancheski’s vehicle over after catching her driving 61 mph in a 35 mph zone. While speaking with her, he said he smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, Foust allegedly found marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.

Drug delivery

ELYSBURG — Kayla Marie Leader, 21, 916 B Scott St., Kulpmont, was arraigned in lieu of $25,000 cash bail by Magisterial Judge William C. Cole on felony charges of drug delivery and criminal use of a communication facility.

According to Patrolman David Tomtishen, Leader had allegedly sold drugs to an overdose victim, Dylan J. Herr, on Dec. 22. The conversation setting up the transaction was found by Herr’s mother on her son’s cellphone.
