SHAMOKIN — Derrick L. Rebuck, 37, of 181 Pine Creek Road, Hegins, is charged by Trooper Justin Bieber, of state police at Stonington, with misdemeanors of DUI and DUI for the highest rate of alcohol for allegedly operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .260 percent at 12:52 a.m. Dec. 23 in the city.
According to the criminal complaint, Bieber and Trooper Christopher Kolosinsky were on patrol on North Market Street in Shamokin when they observed a 2011 Mazda 6 traveling south in the northbound lane. A traffic stop was initiated.
Bieber noticed a strong odor of alcohol and observed Rebuck to have bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Rebuck replied “too much” when asked how much he had to drink, according to police.

COAL TOWNSHIP — Adam R. Cuccia, 31, of 1457 Scott St., Kulpmont, has been charged by Trooper Jordan Judson, of state police at Stonington, with misdemeanors of DUI and DUI for the highest rate of alcohol and summary offenses of occupant protection, turning movements and operating a vehicle without inspection for allegedly operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .324 percent on Route 61 at Maysville at 12:41 p.m. Dec. 30.
According to the criminal complaint, Judson initiated a traffic stop on a 2008 Dodge Nitro for an inspection violation and failure to signal when changing lanes. Upon speaking to Cuccia, Judson observed a strong odor of alcohol and said his eyes were bloodshot.
The trooper asked Cuccia if he had been drinking, to which he replied that he had “only been drinking the prior night.” A breathe test administered at the scene showed a blood alcohol content of .382 percent. Cuccia then said he had been drinking the day of the traffic stop.
A blood test was later administered that produced the .324 level, police said.
