Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP — Walter Hyde, 76, of Shamokin, was cited Thursday for scattering rubbish. Hyde was allegedly burning several mattress to collect the scrap metal after the wood and fabric burned away in the area of Big Mountain Road. The Coal Township Fire Departments were called to put out the fire.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP — Shannon Chapman, 41, of Ranshaw, was charged on Thursday with retail theft after allegedly exiting Weis Markets in Coal Township with various lunch meats placed in a purse and unpaid for. She was accompanied by Kailee Fenstermaker, 19, of Ranshaw, who was also charged.
