STATE COLLEGE — A severe thunderstorm watch for Northumberland County has been issued from the National Weather Service in State College to last through 9 p.m.

Meteorologist David Martin said the storms were near State College at approximately 3:30 p.m. and moving toward Shamokin.

The heaviest storms will hit the Shamokin area before 7 to 7:30 p.m. and then travel east, he said.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, lightening and the possibility of hail.

Martin said a cold front will be moving in Monday mostly in the northern and eastern parts of the state, but said some thunderstorms may hit the Shamokin area.

Anyone experiences power outages as a result of the storm can report them to PPL Electric at www.pplelectric.com/outages or by calling 1-800-342-5775.
