HUNTINGDON — Anna Marie Bartol, 99, of Huntingdon, and formerly of Shamokin, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, Aug. 1, 2022.

She was born in Shamokin, Jan. 29, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Natalie (Pratasiewicz) Grill. She was residing in Huntingdon for the past nine years.

Anna married Lawrence J. Bartol July 2,1952, in Wayne County, Michigan. Lawrence preceded her in death Jan. 8, 2013.

Anna attended Shamokin area Catholic schools.

She was a seamstress before and after her marriage to Lawrence. The mother of four children, Anna enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening and was an avid tennis fan. Her favorite tennis player was the current No. 1 ranked woman from Poland, Iga Swiatek. The Grand Slam tournaments start with the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and end with the U.S. Open in August. In the early 1990s, Anna was elated to be able to attend the U.S. Open, in Flushing Meadows, New York. After watching every detail on television for many years as an armchair umpire, Anna knew more about the stadium seating than anyone else in attendance.

Anna enjoyed keeping up with current events, walking to the Victoria Theater with Lawrence and family picnics on most weekends in the summers at the Bloomsburg Town Park and Halfway Dam.

Anna is survived by her son, James Bartol and his wife, Gloria, of Pottsville; daughters, Renee and her husband, Frank Di Domizio, of Lansdale, Michelle and her husband, Thomas Bilich, of Huntingdon, and Simone and her husband, Michael McCaffrey, of Gettysburg; grandchildren, Alyson Bartol Allman, Eric Bartol, Gabriella and Hunter Di Domizio and Simone Bilich; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by her siblings, Lorretta Witt, Betty Shervanick, Irene Bradley, Jack Grill, Edward Grill and Martin Grill.

BARTOL — Anna Marie Bartol, 99, of Huntingdon, and formerly of Shamokin. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mother Cabrini Church, 200 N. Shamokin St. at Webster Street, Shamokin. Interment will follow Mass at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. As an expression of sympathy, friends and family are requested to make a memorial contribution to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Ave., Coal Township 17866, in honor of Anna’s memory.
