CATAWISSA — Bernadette M. Petro, 85, of 204 Bethel Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Mount Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Mount Carmel.

She was born in Shamokin, May 4, 1935, a daughter to the late Joseph Jerome and Mary Tos.

She was a graduate of St. Edward High School.

Bernadette was married Nov. 26, 1990, in Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church,

Elysburg, to Bernard G. Petro, who passed away a few hours after her.

Bernadette was employed at Merck Chemical as a chemical operator and also worked as a secretary for several businesses in the area.

She was a member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg.

Bernadette is survived by her children, Donald Tomaschik and his wife, Debi, of Catawissa, Colette Huxta and her husband, Leonard, of Shamokin, and Gerald Tomaschik and his wife, Cyndy, of Pampa, Texas; six grandchildren, Mallory and Tyler Tomaschik, Timothy and Ashley Huxta, and Brittny and Lindsey Tomaschik; three great-grandchildren, Harley, Dakota and Elliot; a sister, Patricia Mazeski; nieces, Jennifer and Jessica; and a nephew, Matthew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Tomaschik.

PETRO — Bernadette M. Petro, 85, of 204 Bethel Drive, Catawissa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg, with the Rev. Joseph Scanlin as celebrant. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. A viewing will be held at from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Leonard J. Lucas Jr., supervisor, Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
