POTTSVILLE — Dolores F. Cooper, 89, of Pottsville, and formerly of West Cameron Township, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at Green Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Pottsville.
She was born in West Cameron Township, April 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Melvin W. “Fred” and Clara M. (Knarr) Hornberger.
She attended West Cameron Township and Trevorton schools.
Dolores worked at Northumberland County Mountain View Manor as a certified nursing assistant and retired from the laundry department. She also was a teacher’s aide at the West Cameron Elementary School.
Dolores had a strong faith in God and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, in West Cameron Township.
Dolores enjoyed family, friends, cooking, baking, church, working outside, spotless housekeeping, her dogs and loved living in West Cameron Township.
Survivors include a son, Richard H. Cooper Sr. and his wife, Lois J., of Herndon; a grandson, Richard H. Cooper Jr. and his wife, Justine, of Herndon; two nieces, Susan Marie Hornberger, of Texas, and Michelle Ann Hornberger, of Birmingham, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons, Michael Cooper, 1958, and Mitchell Cooper, 1959; and two brothers, Ronald E. Hornberger and Melvin J. Hornberger Jr.
COOPER — Dolores F. Cooper, 89, of Pottsville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, with Vicar Jodi Ellis officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Gowen City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dolore’s memory to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1910 Upper Road, Shamokin 17872.
