ELYSBURG — Dorothy E. Tyson, 82, of Elysburg, entered into eternal life on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Riverwoods Senior Living Community, Lewisburg.

She was born on March 14, 1936, in Mount Carmel, a daughter of the late David and Mary (Matsko) Rowe.

She attended Shamokin area schools and was a graduate of Shamokin High School.

Dorothy was married July 9, 1955, in St. John’s United Church of Christ, Shamokin, to Elwood M. Tyson Jr., who survives.

She was employed with Shroyer’s Dress Company for 30 years. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Shamokin. Dorothy enjoyed writing short stories and poems and crocheting and cross-stitching.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Elwoood; a sister, Ruth Rowe, of Coal Township; brothers, John B. Rowe, of Coal Township, and Richard Rowe and his wife, Ann, of Edgerton, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Jodie Tyson, of Danville; three grandchildren, Troy Tyson and his wife, Kristin, of Milton, Tara Hayes and her husband, William, of Danville, and Elaina Rose Tyson, of Danville; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Chloe and Troy Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Elwood M. Tyson III; a brother, David Rowe; and two sisters, Ethel Jones and Grace Tamkus.

TYSON — Dorothy E. Tyson, 82, of Elysburg. There will be no visitation or hours of calling. Funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dorothy’s memory to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 117 N. Eighth St., Shamokin, or to a charity of your choice. Leonard J. Lucas Jr., supervisor, Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, is assisting the family with arrangements.
